Last week we had a thunderstorm with a lightning strike into a neighbour house. Some equipment connected to the telephone line is not working anymore and the K3 immediately went into TX mode after I switched it on. As I found out later this was related to the IC U1 (TI SN75C1406G4, costs < 1 ?) on the KIO3 main board. I replaced it carefully (you need some experience in soldering SMD devices!) and the RS232 interface is working fine again!
Voltage was -0,5 V at Pin 8 with the faulty IC and is now -8,5 V after repair. Thanks to Atsu JE1TRV for advice in a previous email! 73 Joe DK5WL ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
