Thom,

You could purchase a 20 to 30 foot fiberglass, telescoping fishing pole and mount it on your second floor deck so that it slopes at a 45 degree angle or so. You can run a wire up the pole to the tip and allow enough wire to hang off of the tip so that it can not be touched by someone on the ground. You can run a single counterpoise from your secod floor deck down to the ground.

I operate like this when on vacation at a beach house and at Field Day. I duct tape a 2" ID x 2 foot long PVC pipe to the deck at 45 degrees and then slide the pole into the PVC pipe. When I am done operating, I retract the pole and reel in the line.

Let us know what you decide to do and how it turns out for you. Many of us could benefit from hearing more about the antenna(s) you build and try.

Subject: [Elecraft] Compromise/Limited Space/Make My Day Antenna Advice

I could use a suggestion or two....I live in a very congested area....my house is 11 foot wide and 25 feet long...with a yard that is 10 feel deep....I have a
10 by 10 deck on the second floor.

I used to have an endfed wire that ran across the street to a phone pole...but new houses cut that off.

There is a vent pipe on the back of the house that sticks up about 5 feet above the roof.

So...I could try a loop on my roof(10 x 25 x 10 x 25), go over my neighbor's roof(20 x 25 x 20 x 25) use the other neighbor's roof (30 x 25 x 30 x24), or
try to attach a light weight mast to the vent pole and go "up".

QRN is very bad here. Any and all hints would be appreciated.

Rig is the K2 with the autotuner.
