Rick, I don't have to *go* there, I have already *been* there. All that Apple produced in the 1970 through 1990 period was proprietary. Yes one addition to the Apple II was 3.5 inch drives. I modified several Segate 3.5 inch drives to work with the Apple system because the price for the apple drives was more than 5 times the price of the Segate drive.
The current pricing situation may have evened out, but the early marketing practices of Apple have soured my taste buds - if it has an Apple name on it, I will look the other way. 73, Don W3FPR On 7/25/2012 10:32 PM, Rick Prather wrote: > Don't go there Don! > > BTW, the fact that Apple doesn't use a BIOS, or a Register is not a negative > in my mind! > > Also, I don't remember Apple II's using 3.5 floppies.. > > Wow, I see this train leaving the tracks! > > Rick > K6LE > > On 7/25/2012, at 6:10 , Don Wilhelm <w3...@embarqmail.com> wrote: > >> I am really not surprised. >> Anything "Apple" has been "apple-centric" since day one. >> >> I recall modifying standard 3.5 inch floppy drives so they would work with >> the Apple II computers. >> >> Apple does a lot of "strange stuff" to maintain its differences.
