Hi John, If you are able to turn up the compression to something other than zero you are obviously using an SSB mode. You really want to use DATA MODE A. In that mode the K3 really makes digital modes easy because it turns off features that you should not be using and it makes the front panel MIC potentiometer the quick and easy way to adjust your input level. While transmitting (either on the air or in TEST MODE) you would turn the pot until you see 4 or 5 steady bars on the ALC display with the next bar blinking. If this doesn't do the trick then you are either not bringing the audio into the LINE IN connector on the back of the K3 or your PC line output needs to be cranked up using the audio control panel.
