When the power supply is over 11 V, current drain is typically 1 A at 5 W in CW, FM, and FSK-D modes and 1.5 A in other modes. Below 11 V, all modes are about the same. (The reason current drain goes down above 11 V in these modes is that we switch in a higher-impedance winding on the PA output transformer.)
At 10 W it's typically 1.8-2 A in all modes. If the SWR seen by the transmitter is high, current drain might be higher depending on the load impedance. Backlight on/off, preamp on/ off, and isolation amp on/off also affect current drain a bit. 73, Wayne N6KR On Jul 30, 2012, at 7:15 AM, Ignacy wrote: > How many amps does KX3 draw on transmit at 10 and 5 W? > Ignacy > > > > > -- > View this message in context: > http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Power-drain-of-KX3-on-TX-tp7560054.html > Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[email protected] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
