David -- it would be a lot easier to understand, even for us engineers who work 
in the field of  telecomm standards in the USA, if we had a clue about the 
acronyms used in the RSGB release.  I can take an educated guess.  Others here 
may not be able to do so.

(Example - in my career PLT stood for "Private Line Teleprinter".)
