I put together a battery pack using three 17 Ah. batteries, packed into a nice cooler - makes a nice package, which weighs 39 lbs. total. I've installed a cigarette lighter outlet, and have a cable for the K-2 - it is really handy. I would like to be able to recharge it while driving, using the cigarette lighter, which is my question. If I were to plug a double male plug - one to the car's outlet, and the other to the battery pack outlet, would that recharge the battery? Do I need some type of controller? If so, Fry's has a 7 amp controller for use with their large solar panels - would that work in my situation? Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on my battery questions.
BTW, I'm using an inverted vee, supported by a 40' Wonderpole, fed with ladder-line, to a LDG 1:1 or 4:1 balun, with my K2/100 the performance is terrific, and at the campground, there was zero noise, which is a huge change from the S7 or so noise I get at my home QTH.
