Paul, The Yamaha CM500 is undoubtedly a good choice but is unavailable in Europe - the US suppliers won't ship it to Eu either. A good alternative I found, is the Koss SB/45, which is quite comfortable during long periods of contest operation and has an excellent quality electret mic. It only cost me around GBP25 which is about $37.
