Bob, A couple of possible reasons for the 500hz shift after doing the calibration.
Being a CW man I use Wayne's procedure and zero beat WWV using the spot tone with the K2 set to CW. It took me a while to realise that if I did not CHANGE the setting to LSB before running the CAL PLL then the calibration was off by amount of the side tone (550hz in my case) You are probably aware that WWV and WWVH broadcast alternately 500hz and 600hz tone for 45 secs of most minute periods. It is possible to inadvertently zero beat to these tones which will also cause a miss-calibration. To avoid this check the zero beating when there is no tone present. The method will produce calibration accuracy to within 10 to 20hz with care. Hope this helps. -- 73, Nigel, ZL2DF > > ------------------------------ > > Message: 3 > Date: Fri, 2 Sep 2005 08:17:24 -0400 > From: "Bob Wehking" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K2's 4 MHZ Master Oscillator. > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, "Earl W Cunningham" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, > <[email protected]> > Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="windows-1250"; > reply-type=original > > After I followed Wayne's procedure, I did do the CAL PLL & > then CAL FIL for > all the crystal filters. > > Bob > WB8DDI > > _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
