Be sure your K3 is in DATA-A mode and not SSB. I lost a bit of time the other night trying to find out why I had no modulation in JT65 when I noted I was on a freq. set to SSB. Switched to DATA-A and the modulation just popped up. I use straight audio in/out from my K3 and direct RS232 control of PTT. I use a emu0202 external soundcard which makes manual setting of Tx audio simple (just twist a knob). Set meter to read ALC and adjust Tx audio so four bars are steady with fifth bar flickering with modulation.
