On one of the programs I run (don't remember which one) I set the command to tell the K3 TWICE to go back to receive. That program either doesn't listen/talk well, or the timing is often off on serial commands.

This can happen even with a couple of watts from a WSPR transmission. The fact that WSPR transmissions go on for 2 minutes can defeat the operating system's attempts to reset the port buffer. If that's it, the remedy is the same as for other RFI problems: a good single-point ground setup and some ferrites.
