I experience a similar thing. With KPA500 BAND CHG set to STBY and using the KPA500 band buttons to change bands, it happens if the KPA500 goes from OPER to STBY on band change. Elecraft support confirmed the issue and said that it would be fixed in the next K3 firmware release.
