I would doubt anything could be as bad as bad as the LDG's. I had a new 1000 Pro and it sounded like you were shaking a gallon can with 2 dozen marbles in it unloaded 2 weeks after I bought it. Don't know about the Elecraft but my Palstar HF-Auto and the Alpha 4040 Auto Tuner I have on order all have the stepper motors and they are quiet.
