I've been using CFL's for over 5 years now. The early ones were noisy (and didn't last long) but in recent years I have no problem with them. To hear noise from my CFL lamps I have to wrap an antenna wire around the bulb!
But the sources of noise are legion, as others pointed out. Plasma TV's are particularly bad since there's no way to shield the display beyond wrapping it in metal foil (hard to watch that way ;-). Washing machines, coffee pots, stoves, and refrigerators, LED lamps, indeed, just about anything that plugs into the wall is a good suspect these days since almost anything designed in the last several years has a microprocessor embedded inside and manufacturers pay little heed to shielding the power supplies. 73, Ron AC7AC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
