Recently, I expressed some mis-understanding about resonance. I got some nasty replies and insults. That was discouraging.
Thanks to Tony, KT0NY, who patiently answered some of my curious questions, I now see the error of my ways. I have been using a MFJ-212 Matchmaker to help me tune my manual tuner using open wire feedline to a homebrew delta loop on 80 thru 10 meters. I like it because I can tune while receiving. The MFJ-212 puts out a pulsing white noise at RF and I see a VEE displayed on my P3 as I reach the correct adjustment of the L and C in the tuner. I can move the vee up, or down, in frequency as I tune the tuner. It seemed like evidence that I was seeing resonance, and I would hear weak stations appear as I neared the optimum tune position. If anyone is curious what the vee looks like, I can send a pic off line. BTW, without changing the tuner from one day to the next and after a rain or fog, I have seen the vee positioned down as much as 40 Khz in frequency while the antenna and feedline were wet. The P3 and Matchmaker compliment each other, and I can fine-tune my tuner with it. I just have to be careful how I choose words to describe what I am seeing on the P3.
