I'd love to hear from people who have been using the K2 as an IF for v/u/micro contesting. I purchased a rover vehicle recently and I'm thinking about abandoning the riceboxes it came with and move to transverters for the low bands.
Current setup has dual FT-100's, which drive TE amps for 50, 144, and 432 directly and 222 using a 28Mhz IF. The microwaves (through 10G) are all run with 144Mhz IF from an IC-706. I'm thinking a couple of K2s with some switching of control and IF so they can share a set of Elecraft xverters (hopefully including one for 432 eventually - hint, hint :) That would cover the bottom 6 bands directly .. I'm tending towards an SDR solution for the top 4 anyway that would give me a nice bandscope display.
