Hi to the group. I have been reading the recent postings on AGM battery use and some of the set-ups being used seem a little odd to me.
I have in my Motorhome, 800W of solar panels @ 24V and a pair of 270aH AGM batteries. I use 24vdc to 14vdc stepdown to power the K-Line and KX3/GS-3 screwdriver antenna. Prior to installing the system I researched solar power regulated systems and paid close attention to the controllers being used and looked at battery longevity. Many folks I have met often stated their batteries were not lasting for years and this was a common comment. So I set out to find out why and what I uncovered was that there are controllers and controllers. For anyone wanting to know more about what I ended up doing, feel free to send me an email and I will send more information with brand/model numbers and a wiring diagram on how it should be done to gain an 8 year life cycle from AGM batteries and full control of your solar system with historical data available so you can see over time just how your system is working. You don't want to destroy expensive batteries I'm sure. regards, -- *Gary - VK1ZZ Motorhome Portable The Shack* *Elecraft K3 P3 Panadapter KPA500FT KAT500FT** KX3-K * ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
