Hi all,

Some K2 owners reported a VFO tuning problem on transverter band 6. I've duplicated the problem, and after tracing the program, I found that the EEPROM wasn't properly initialized on this band. Among other things, the "channel scan" feature was getting turned on.

It turns out that there's a simple work-around for this, which need only be done one time:

1. Set up TRN6 as desired using the secondary menu. (Refer to page 17 of the K60XV manual, or to any recent edition of the K2 owner's manual.)

2. Exit the men, then switch to TRN6 using BAND+/-.

3. Use Direct Frequency Entry (see K2 manual) to set the VFO to the lower edge of the transverter band on VFO A. Repeat for VFO B. DO NOT move the VFO yet.

4. Change the operating mode, even if it appears to already be correctly displayed; the mode data may be invalid.

5. Enter the menu again and find the RATES entry. EDIT the parameter. Then tap DISPLAY until NOR is displayed. (You'll also see the other channel scanning options go by.)

6. Exit the menu. Switch to another band, then back to transverter band 6 (this updates the associated area of EEPROM).

You should now be able to tune the VFO normally on this band. If you have a similar tuning problem on any other band, it's probably due to channel scan being turned on; turn it off using the RATES menu entry as above.

We'll fix this in a future version of firmware, but instead of holding your breath, please try the above ;)
