We do not recommend spraying corrosion-x inside the K3. That will void the warranty. Corrosion X is basically an oil based preservative, which will make a mess of the inside of the radio and also make it difficult to repair when needed.

In general, we have not seen serious interior corrosion on K3s in normal marine and tropical use where normal precautions are taken (keep the radio dry etc..) In those cases where the exterior screws did rust, the interior connectors etc. were free from corrosion. The exterior stainless screw kit for the K3 is the proper solution for this environment.

One of their advertisements is to take a marine radio which was subjected to
salt water with the case off .....now not working. Then, submerge in a bucket
of corrosion x over night then power on while still submerged in corrosion x
... Now working.

You could lightly spray the interior of the K3 before going on the DX
expedition .

All,While on a mini dx-pedition, most of the original exterior screws in my K3

1) Should I be concerned about rust developing inside my K3?2)Over the next
several years, I plan to operate near salt water for extended periods and
want to make sure I'm am not going to damage my K3. Is there anything I can,
or could have done differently to prevent the rust from developing?
