Fred, that jumper is involved only when using the CTRL input to turn the PR6 off when the K3 is on bands other than 6 meters so you can use the RX antenna connections on other bands. See page 2 of your PR6 manual.

If this was what was happening I just installed a PR6 on an ser # 5299 and had no problems I "did not" do anything with a jumper inside.
