Chris,
I don't think Elecraft will offer built KX1, K1 or K2 transceivers, but
there are a number of "Builders for Hire" that will assist you.
They will build the transceiver for you and do the test, alignment and
calibration and send it to you working the best it can be.
Check out the list of Builders for Hire at the Elecraft website. The
list may be out of date, but contact those on the list anyway and check
their build prices - in most cases, you will find the build fees a
bargain considering the number of hours required to assemble any of
these transceivers.

"Buy expensive and cry only once" is a Chinese saying. Why mess with
inferior products and
encounter QC issues (the few reviews I found and read on the LNR FX-2 often
reported similar quality control issues).
With Chinese made motorcycles, you should read the tales of woe by some
owners. Whole carbs getting swapped
and then more than once is just one of the attempted cures...
Maybe someone should make a good video and post it on Youtube, comparing
the KX1 with some H1-B1 (?) or whatever kits.
As a terrible OP, I had a sked with Steven KW4H then, now AI7AZ from DL. He
was in a park with his KX1. It was tough
going, but we had a QSO. And the antenna was something for quick /p
operation, not some stacked yagi.
I'm looking for another rig for /p operation and confess being tempted by
the variety out there. But now I
realize that true value means more than just a low sticker price!
Hope that Elecraft will offer built small rigs as well.
