I ended up buying the MFJ power supply for the FT-817 small and will supply radios up to 20w. I hope this will work I'm trying it anyway and see if it meets all the requirements needed. They were in stock at HRO $49.95, I have a Samlex 1223 that has been out of use for a while for a spare if needed they are not the smallest but lightweight and very quiet.
