Speaking of this, I bought some jumpers recently, and I noticed the PL259 plugs 
slipped into the SO239 socket too freely, as if no contact.  

Rather then bend the pins on the socket, I applied a little solder to the 
plug's center conductor and then filed the solder down until it slid into the 
socket with some friction.  I have no doubts now.
