Andy,

You did not say which Heil ProSet you have (there are several, all different). If it is the ProSet-K2 or a ProSet-iC, then it uses an elecrtret element, and most any electret element microphone will work, including the inexpensive computer microphones - just wire a Foster 8 pin mic plug to whatever you have on your mic configuration header. The bias resistor is needed for these Electret element microphones.

If OTOH, you have a ProSet with the HC4 or HC5 element, that is a dynamic type and you will have no bias resistor installed in the K2. You will have to shop for a dynamic microphone if you want to use the two interchangeably. Shop around, some of the old CB microphones sound good and the mic plug can be re-wired to match your existing microphone pinout.

Hi,

I am very happy with my Heil Pro Set head set but would like to get a station
mike. Can someone suggest one that works well with the K2 + MicroHam and does
not break the bank?

Thanks
