Dave, If you are referring to the "EXTENDED VFO TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION PROCEDURE" which can be performed on a KX3, the XG3 is NOT recommended. It just doesn't have the same frequency/temperature stability as the XG50. However, for anything else, the XG3 should be fine.
