My guess would be that with different size connectors, it is harder to plug
the wrong thing into the wrong place. This makes it less likely that you
will plug an ACC1 cable into the ACC2 jack by mistake, and less likely that
you would plug headphones into the RXIQ jack, for example.

Subject: [Elecraft] A KX3 Curiosity Question about ACC2 and RXIQ
On my KX3 the ACC2 and the RXIQ connectors are 2.5 mm rather than a more
common 3.5 mm. So, does anyone know why these are 2.5 mm rather than 3.5
mm. I understand that they are smaller but looking at the KX3 and how and
where they are located I do not see that smaller is required for the design.
Is there a good engineering design reason behind this decision? I have no
complaints but rather lots of curiosity.
