I'm a bit surprised that so many were unaware of the solar flare! Good of Bill Frantz to post info on this.

All HF bands were completely dead in AK yesterday. WWV on 15-MHz totally missing! Of course we had visible aurora, locally. It was a eme contest weekend for 144 & 432, but I chose to skip it as my experience is that 2m-eme signals just disappear in the excited ionosphere (which acts as a big attenuator in these circumstances).

I just checked 20m at 1800utc and the band seems to improved though maybe still impacted (maybe only due to it being a work day?).

We have been having clear-sunny days starting out at zero-F but climbing to 28-30 mid-day so fine wx for working outside on my dish with only a light jacket.

Don't HFers watch solar conditions? :-)
