Hi, I purchased from Elecraft in 2006 a Pro-Set K2 Heil microphone headset with 3.5mm stereo sound and 3.5mm mono plugs for use with my K2. Now setting it up on the KX3. Mode LSB 7114 kHz, VOX set to PTT. Sound in the phones OK. But connecting the MIC puts the KX3 into transmit mode (Red TX LED lights up). XMIT key will key the transmitter on and off. Following Basic Voice-Mode Setup, manual page 15, fails at ‘Adjust mic gain level’, CMP and ALC bar graphs are empty (no vision or movements) as expected as the 3.5mm mono (mic) is not plugged in as it keys the transmitter. Keying the transmitter with the mic plugged in, and increasing the MON value to 12, deflection of the bars occurs. No CMP bars at all. Are there any other interlocks on the transmit path? Otherwise I need some guidance. Many thanks.
