I have a pair of vintage 5" "bookshelf" Hi-Fi speakers left over from my 1970's "hi fi" setup that I incorporated into my operating position design that do a wonderful job for me. Their enclosures are nicely finished wood enclosures about 6" by 8".
They are actually the supports for a "bridge" about 6" above the operating desk that carries the K3, KPA500 and P3 and leaves the desktop under them clear for keys and other stuff. 73, Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I was fortunate to find a pair of Radio Shack Optimus speakers (5 inch black cube) at a 2nd hand store for $5. They work great with my K3. You may be able to find something similar if you shop around a bit. These are non-amplified speakers and work quite well, no worries about RF feedback or other problems that sometimes occur with amplified varieties, and the K3 has more than adequate audio to drive these high efficiency speakers. Since the K3 tailors the audio response, there is not really a need for "communications" speakers - the RX EQ will shape the audio to your desires, so "full range" speakers will work great with the K3. For those who do SWLing, the full range speakers may be better for those users than communications speakers. 73, Don W3FPR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
