I've been off the ham airwaves for about 15 years. I'm now serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Loveland Co and my interest to get back on the Ham airwaves has returned. To make a long story short, I bought and built a K2 last month and used it mobile this past week on my travel to and from Texas where I helped my Mom and Pa In-Law recover from Hurricane Rita down in Orange, TX. The K2 is a wonderful radio. I used a $15 "Texas Ranger" CB microphone with very good reports from everyone.
This Saturday morning I'll introduce Ham Radio to about 6-8 Scouts via the JOTA (Jamboree on the Air). The scouts don't seem very interested in Ham Radio, just computer games. I hope to spark some interest to Ham radio in them. I'll try to do some CW with them also (even though I'm a little rusty). http://www.scouting.org/international/jota.html 73, Leon NE0N (This is not a vanity Call, just got lucky 20 years ago when I upgraded) _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
