Beta version 1.16 firmware for the XG3 is now available for download. Release notes for this version are as follows:
• A break signal is now transmitted over the serial port at the start of frequency sweep and Morse memory playback. This appears as a 1.3 ms low to high to low pulse on the serial TX line and can be used to trigger external equipment. • When sending a Morse string using the ‘W’ command, pressing any key or any received serial character will now stop and exit the Morse sequence. • Fixed a bug in which the first element of the first character in a Morse string was being omitted. To install this firmware in your XG3, follow these instructions: 1) locate or create a temporary directory. 2) download/save the zip file XG3_116.ZIP <ftp://ftp.elecraft.com/XG3/firmware/beta/xg3_116.zip> into the temporary directory. This file can also be downloaded from ftp://ftp.elecraft.com/XG3/firmware/beta/ 3) extract all the files (2) from the zip file into the temporary directory. 4) connect the XG3 to the computer's serial port as you normally would. 5) start up the XG3 utility and make sure it connects to the XG3. 6) click on the firmware tab in the utility. 7) click on the BROWSE button for folder location. 8) specify the temporary directory where you unzipped the files. 9) click the CHECK VERSION button. 10) you should see that a new version is available, specifically 1.16 11) click on the SEND FIRMWARE TO XG3 and follow the on screen prompts.
