Great Bill! I can tell you from experience that 10 dB (1.5 S-units) makes avoiding interference with your and your neighbor's electronics at lot easier in an apartment setting. And, with an antenna about 60 feet long (folded around corners, etc) strung near the ceiling of a top floor 2nd story apartment, I worked a LOT of stations on 40 through 15 meters, including a fair share of casual DX.
The lower power eliminates any concerns with RF exposure, especially on the higher frequency bands too. If you can toss a wire out of the window into a tree, or if you have an accessible attic space above your apartment (most have an access hatch in a bedroom) you'll get out even better. 73, Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I ordered a portable "getting started" type super delux thing, with most of the options... a kx3...
