The JB Hunt company is also a major user of rail to move freight. I've often seen a mile of them on the rails.
I'd like to see more use of rail transportation by rail to cut down on the number of overloaded 18 wheelers tearing up our roads. Here in TX they have passed legislation allowing 100,000 lb loads of wheat on the I-45 corridor to Houston. If it's legal to haul 100,000 lbs, they will haul 150,000 lbs with 54 foot long trailers. Sorry about the OT remarks ;o( 73, Tom Amateur Radio Operator N5GE ARRL Lifetime Member QCWA Lifetime Member On Thu, 13 Jun 2013 12:51:40 -0700, Lewis Phelps <[email protected]> wrote: >As a former railroad company officer, I can tell you that UPS uses the >nation's rail system very heavily for piggyback (trailer on flat car, or TOFC) >shipments that are longer than one or two day's run in a truck.
