Dave, Interesting. The fan and lack of internal tuner would not be my choice. Looks very, very nice, though.

I decided to order and build a PA-100D linear from JUMA Radio as a surface mount kit. It is a very compact linear which will produce up to 150 watts out with between 3 and 10 watts drive. It is well filtered and from tests I have done has a very clean output. Using my KX3 As a 2 tone generator I measured 2nd order distortion of better then -28 db. The JUMA engineers measured greater then -33 db with 90 watts out using calibrated lab equipment. With the new firmware it will work with the rs232 from the KX3 and other rigs so will select the proper output filter (switch bands) or you can use RF detect or manually select the band. It is crammed with safety interlocks and protection circuitry. If I want to run more power I use the output of the JUMA linear to drive my Heathkit SB 220. I have received excellent reports from many stations, many with K3/P3 and Flex Radios that could see my output. It does use a cooling fan on the heat sink but is very quiet. Running PSK31 using the linear with 30 watts out the fan never got to full speed. This kit is 450 euros ($600.00 USD) so it's not cheap. Is it as good as the new Elecraft KXPA 100? Probably not and it doesn't cover 6 meters. But if you like a challenge and want a good linear to boot then check out WWW.JUMARADIO.COM. I have no relationship with JUMA but enjoy the linear. 73 Dave KD1NA Sent from my iPad On Jun 18, 2013, at 10:28 PM, k3...@comcast.net wrote: > Better check the writeup.
