Look at the filter. If it has a collection of individual "cans" mounted on a board, it's a 5-pole. Eight pole filters are in a single rectangular can.
You can see photos of them here: http://www.elecraft.com/manual/K3%20Crystal%20Filter%20Option%20Rev%20A.pdf See Figure 1 on page 5. 73,Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike Flowers Sent: Friday, June 21, 2013 12:54 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Elecraft] How to determine K3 filter type - 5-pole or 8-pole Hi Gang, I recently bought a used K3 which has filters installed in both the main and sub receivers. Is there an external way of determining if these filters are 5-pole or 8-pole? Is the value of FLx FRQ for each filter a clue? Thanks for your assistance! * 73 de Mike, K6MKF * ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
