I always use a headset with my K3 at home. I have the Mon level at 1 or 2 so I can hear the DVR output.
As I'm preparing for Field day, I remembered last year we tried to use the DVR while running external powered speakers on the K3. Unless the Mon level was turned down to 0, we would get audio feedback (squeal) when keying the DVR for a CQ. Of course, with the Mon level set to 0, then we can't hear what the DVR is transmitting. I believe we were using the standard hand mic when this occurred. It seems like the mic must have been active when pressing a memory button for the DVR message to play. Am I missing something?
