Been a Ham for over 50 years and haven't felt this surge in excitement in a long time. Last evening I made my first contacts with my recently completed K1. The radio was running 5 watts on 30 meters to a 30 meter dipole in the attic of my condo. First contact was a DL7 who gave me a 589 followed by a LY2 with a 559. Now I've made similar contacts before by turning down the power on my Icom and Yaesu rigs but these two contacts really stirred-up something inside of me as they were made with a radio I built. Haven't felt like this since my novice days back in '62.
