The preamp can be turned off with 'PA0;', but (AFAIK), NR can only be toggled, with a 'SWH19;',- not explicitly turned off. See the "K3 and KX3 Programmers Reference" http://www.elecraft.com/manual/K3&KX3%20Pgmrs%20Ref,%20E6.pdf BTW, 'RX;' does not turn off the attenuator - it just places the rig in receive mode.
