I held W5TKI for many years ... then moved to Florida and dutifully followed the rules at the time by notifying the FCC district office(s) that I was operating "portable" away from my official FCC address.
When the time limit for doing so ran out ... two years? ... I received a letter notifying me that I couldn't continue to operate as a portable station and that an address change ... with new call ... was expected. They gave me one of the new-at-the-time %*()*&%$# calls ... WA4HAA. By that time I was the Frequency Coordinator for Florida and the Miami repeater received WR4HAA. Confusion reigned. Then came a Navy MARS call of N0SJP..... still in Florida BTW. 73!
