Hi, After installing the roofing filters in my KX3 (which was a while ago), it seemed to me that the received audio was down somewhat from the levels I recall from before the filters were installed. At the suggestion of another KX3 owner, I tried the following experiment: I hooked up my XG1 signal generator directly to the KX3. With the AGC turned off, in CW mode and the narrowest bandwith so that filter 3 was selected, and the XG1 at 50uv, I let the AFV indication stabilize, then noted the AF db was at 0.0db, Opening the PBT control until filter 2 clicked in, and the dbv jumped to +1.1db. I kept going until filter 1 clicked in, and the dbv jumped to +1.4db. I tried this sequence in both directions, both at 50uv and 1uv, and that ratio of 1.4 - 1.1 - 0.0 was repeatable at both signal levels. Is this normal for using the roofing filters? Thanks Mike N2HTT ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected]
