There was a station in Jonestown and another at the Peoples Temple in San Francisco. It was no secret that they were being used to conduct business which in some cases was the transfer of illegal merchandise. The FCC inspected the S.F. station and found several Part 97 violations including overpower. As far as I remember, the ham in S.F. did not go to Jonestown because he was getting disillusioned and so remained alive and repented for getting involved with that group. I know this for a fact because I was the FCC agent who inspected that station.
