We are waiting for the S meter absolute mode to be incorporated into the firmware as it is in the K3, then the meter will correctly read the signal at the antenna socket irrespective of preamp or attenuator settings. I agree that the current situation is somewhat odd, maybe there's a good reason for the delay in its implementation, but I would like this feature enabled as soon as possible. One of the joys of the KX3 (and K3) is the fact that the S meter is so accurate!
