I just set up a new antenna configuration of a Buddipole with a Triple Ratio Switch Balun (TRSB). In setting up for 20m I adjusted the antenna to a 1.6:1 SWR, TRSB to 4:1. Reception was great. When I hit the ATU on my K3/100 I saw it use about 5 watts of power then at the very end of the tuning the K3 jumped to 100 watts for a moment. I have not noticed this before. When that happened I lost all signal from the antenna.
After checking that everything was properly connected, maybe an hour, I tried it again. Reception was great but when I hit the auto tune the same thing happened. Why?? I am in contact with Buddipole about this but has anyone else had the K3 jump to full power on auto tune? Have I somehow set up something wrong? I am really green when it comes to SDR and maybe the K3 was well beyond my current ability. I just got my license back after 40 years and so much has changed.
