Very good - better filters and I found the K1 a bit more sensitive. Of course this is really not the point, is it? I asked the very same question here pretty much convinced I was going to buy the K1 anyway. I don't regret it one bit. The K1 is a great little radio and I often use it just for a change of pace. The KX1, however, is the radio that goes with me most often. It's just too easy to take it along with my Par End-Fed antenna and use it on a whim if there is a little time to kill. If you use the attachable paddles you have the ultimate in portability and you can even use the KX1 while standing up. Building, of course, is half the fun. Good Luck. Tom, AK2B
