Don answered your question about the SSB settings, but your setup is very similar to mine (except I built the soundcard interface from scratch). I am running Fedora and fldigi. You might want to try a very simple logging program called 'xlog', it is basic but it works well, and interfaces with fldigi... when you have them both running and you click the 'log' button on fldigi, xlog captures the QSO.
