Hi Mike,

Most operators use the mic's PTT button, but you can also tap XMIT to start/end 
transmit.

There's one catch, having to do with DTMF. For numeric keypad purposes, XMIT is 
used as the '0' switch. So if you tap XMIT, then enter DTMF mode (by tapping 
FREQ ENT), you need to exit DTMF mode (by tapping FREQ ENT again) to return 
XMIT to its normal function. Tapping XMIT will then go back to receive mode.

This will all be described in the KX3 owner's manual and in the manual that 
comes with the KX3-2M module.
