Curt,

Most any interface box will work with the K2 if you use the headphone output and mic input - even homebrew. PTT can be derived from a USB to serial adapter and a "one transistor keying" circuit. Take a look at my website www.w3fpr.com for the K2 Fixed Audio Output article and the Switchbox for Digital Modes article. It may be possible to use the laptop soundcard, but external soundcards are easy to use and inexpensive.

You do not need the Compression Disable part of the switchbox article if you turn on RTTY mode and set up the filters just like your SSB filters. With RTTY mode, the compression setting is independent of the setting used for SSB -- Compression must be at 1-1 for data modes.

You can find an updated circuit for the Fixed Audio Output at the newly mirrored N0SS website http://www2.opparc.org/mirrors/n0ss/www.n0ss.net/wsdindex.html. Boards are no longer available, but the circuit is simple enough to construct on perfboard.

For some reason I've become interested in trying PSK31 with my K2/10. Receive works well, but haven't tried transmitting yet because my laptop has only USB connectors. Before buying an interface, would appreciate knowing whether others have had success with QRP level PSK31. Which interfaces play well with the K2?
