FWIW: the AmQRP's Micro908 is essentially the kit
version of the Palstar (manufactured) unit. The
Micro908 has lots more functionality than its
factory-built sister, including a well-supported DSP
engine that is the same as the core of the Elecraft
K2DSP. And, the Micro908 is a kit, a big bonus to me
and I presume many other Elecrafters. It is, however,
an also nearly 100% surface-mount kit. I prefer SMD
assembly to through-hole, myself; YMMV.
Antenna anlyzers are important to me. I have (at one
time or another) owned all versions of the MFJ-259,
and also had an Autek RF1. I currently own the
Micro908, the MFJ-207, an AEA Wireless analyzer, and
the Autek VA1 and RF5. Each have their best use. If
I had to have only one HF analyzer, it'd be the
Micro908.
