Doing a little research I found a 32.768KHz surface mount crystal in the Newark
Catalog that might be used to replace the crystal in the Battery/Clock module.
It
is an Epson MC306 and sells for $1.12 in the Newark catalog.

The accuracy is 20PPM, which equates to about 10 minutes/year. Since the cost
is
so low, you could buy 20 or so of them, build up a gate oscillator with the
same
30pf capacitors as are used in the module and use a frequency counter to pick
one
with the best initial accuracy. The drift of the devices is only 3ppm which
equates to 3.5 minutes/year.

Not sure if this one fits on the module, but I'm sure there are equivalent
parts
that would.
