According to the website, 1PM is the time of closure on Fridays. They
have to get people out of the store, before they can secure for the
day, which takes time.

Make that "strictly observant" ... they close quite early on Friday
afternoon depending on the time of year (local sunset). IIRC, it can
be as early as 4:15 or 4:30 local time particularly this time of year.
